The Scarlet Mormon has a wingspan of  12 - 14 cm and is found in the Philippines. The male has large scarlet red patches on the ventral side (underside) of it's velvet black wings. In contrast, the female has distinct orange-red markings on both sides of the wings with prominent highlights around the wing veins.
