Agrias is a genus prized by collectors for their bright, showy colours, extensive polymorphic variants and hybrids. They are found in forests in South and Central America. Males of all Agrias species have prominent yellow tufts of androconial scales on the hindwings. These disperse pheromones for attracting suitable mates.
